Then we’re going to see Tipu Fort, which was built in 1537 as the second toughest fort in India.

The name literally means “Garden of the Sea of Wealth” and this is the summer palace known for the garden of Teakwood that surrounds it. We continue on our journey and follow to Tipu Sultan’s final resting place at Gumbaz. Also known as Gol Gumbad, it’s the Muslim Mausoleum of the sultan and his family surrounded by flowering trees, cypress, and plants he imported from various places.
- We’re going to continue with our ride to Mysore, which is about 3.5 hours from Bangalore. As we reach the city, behold the famous city of temples and monuments hundreds of years old. History buffs, pilgrims, and tourists flock here to admire the ancient ruins and buildings all the same.

Half Day Madikeri Sightseeing & Transfer to Bangalore for Departure
- Enjoy your breakfast today before we check-out from the hotel. We head out for a half-day sightseeing around Coorg. We start with Abbey Falls that flows from river Kaveri nestled between private coffee plantations. The view is incredible, making this one of the most popular Coorg destinations. All around you are coffee bushes, spice estates, and dense forests with pepper vines. The bridge that’s hanging just across the falls is such a perfect spot from which you can get a full view of the 70ft falls from a distance. Visiting this falls has been one of the best experiences many tourists attested to.
- We’ll visit the historic Madikeri Fort that was built by Mudduraja. It was first built by mud before it was later renovated and replaced with granite. Mudduraja also used to have a mud palace inside, but during Tipu Sultan’s rule, the fort received a lot of construction to upgrade the place and named it Jaffarabad. The fort is considered unique compared to other forts as it houses quite a lot of sites, including a prison, a church, a temple, and a museum. The view from the top of the fort is famous especially during sunset hours and the architecture is also popular as two life-size stone sculptures of elephants were added to the entrance of the fort later. Then in 1933, they added a grand clock tower to the fort.
- Then to the Omkareshwara Temple, an 18th century temple that was built by King Lingarajendra II, rumored as his form of penance after he killed a Brahmin. It is a Lord Shiva temple and has a Shivalingam brought over from the holy city of Kashi that is worshipped as Omkareshwara. It’s known for the unique architecture style that’s often seen in Muslim dargah.
- The Raja’s Seat of Mandikeri is also a famous cultural landmark. This tourist attraction is named so as it was quite literally, the royal seats used by Kings and Queens of Kodagu, rules of Karnataka for more than 200 years until 1834. It is located within Gandhi Mantap garden, made of brick and mortar with four arched pillars. It is a favorite place among royals thanks to the exquisite view of nature, as the garden overlooks the nearby cliffs and valleys to the west.
- Once we’re done having fun here, we’ll drive back to Bangalore. We will head to Bangalore Airport / Railway Station for your departure.
- Note: In order to conduct this tour the flight / train should be late evening after 8 pm.
